The Wood Pit

Ver 4.01

WELCOME, to my shop. I would call myself no more than an amateur woodworker, so don't expect to see anything that would represent the works displayed in Fine Woodworking's Gallery here. I do try to challenge myself with each new project by incorporating some type of new or different method in my works. I believe this is a great way to broaden my Woodworking horizon and all should try a good challenge from time to time. I'll admit trying new methods can get frustrating and time consuming, sometimes yielding a project far from what you envisioned or desired, but it never hurts to try new things.

Woodworking is hobby of mine that only consumes a small amount of my time, so though I do try to post weekly updates, don't expect weekly projects. This site serves more of a journal of my progress more than anything. It helps me look back at what I have done and learned over the coarse of time. However this site does not document the WHOLE process of a project. I have tried to document my progression of projects, but this really cuts into my work flow and slows my already limited time in the shop, so you will most likely only find finished and the occasional Before and After shots. If you are looking for great walk through type work I suggest you visit WoodshopDemos.com or NewWoodworker.com. Both of these sites are great for all kinds of photo detailed walk throughs and reviews. It also helps that they have more than one person working with them and they prolly get all their samples for free or discounted prices, a luxury that I do not possess. However, I have taken the time to write some of my own Methods of Work, but their are few - and have been hosted here on this site mainly by request.

Please feel free to take a look at all that is available here, it is the least I can do to return the favor of spending countless hours of browsing so many other fellowWoodworking websites. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any Questions or Comments, I'll answer them if you write them.

A few words of caution:
Don't work past your means, if you're tired, stop this is a great way to mess up your project as well as yourself!

If the process of milling / fabricating something feels funny or unsafe, chances are it is - Stop and re-think it.

Of all the things a doctor can fix, you only get one set of eyes! Protect them. If you can't see, you can't Woodwork.
